These Are All the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas Open Right Now (And When to Expect the Others)
*Last Updated August 7, 2021*
Most Alamo Drafthouse locations live on now over a year into the pandemic, and for some lucky parts of the country, new theaters are opening!
Cinephiles across the country felt the weight of COVID’s damage to the economy back in March, when the beloved Alamo Drafthouse movie theater chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed struggling locations in Kansas City, MO, and both Austin and New Braunfels in Texas. But as vaccination rates bump up and more businesses reopen to customers, it appears most of the Alamo’s locations are more than ready to welcome back their fans.
Largely dependent on local restrictions, some theaters began with limited reopenings as far back as September 2020. The theater chain has stated that some of the bars attached to each location may reopen fully after the theater does in order to adhere to mask policies and indoor dining restrictions. Reopening food and beverage menus may also be smaller than usual as a result.
“It’s a lot of (expensive) work to wake one of these babies up – considerably more than a little bit of dusting,” A statement released from the Alamo Drafthouse website read. “So that’s why we’ve been slow to reopen locations in 2021.”
Here’s the full list of Alamo Drafthouse locations and their opening status:
