4 Guilty Pleasure Drinks for ‘The Bachelorette’ Finale

Bachelor Nation has long provided the ultimate guilty pleasure TV show material. With all the recent drama and suspense wrapped around this season, you better believe I’ll be drinking while I watch Katie Thurston’s ‘Bachelorette’ finale!

Rumor has it that Katie will end the show early with or without a winning bachelor. Let’s drink and find out! // ABC

Well it’s here, Bachelor Nation, the finale of Katie Thurston’s season! The Season 17 finale airs on Monday, August 9 at 8/7c on ABC (but all of us who don’t have cable anymore can watch the next day on Hulu).

In case you missed it, the last episode was really surprising with front-runner Greg Grippo getting upset when bachelorette Katie Thurston didn’t give him the reaction he wanted when he confessed his love for her. To be specific, she paused and responded with that she loved looking at him after he said “I love you.” Yeah… ouch. After a quick and super-heated argument, Greg stormed off the set and seemingly left the show altogether. Now it’s just down to two bachelors vying for Katie’s heart: Blake Moynes and Justin Glaze.

Personally, I think things could go in three different directions: one, Greg comes back and he and Katie make up, resulting in the show ending a bit prematurely and the two supposedly living happily ever after. Two, Katie quits the show early and either goes after Greg herself or just realizes her feelings for the other two aren’t that strong and decides to cut her losses entirely. Or three, she realizes that she and Blake actually make a weirdly good match in a lot of ways, and she’ll go for him (though some may call it settling). Either way, I just don’t think she’s going for Justin. Sorry, Justin.

Now with all reality shows, it is important to remember that these are real people (no being mean to any of the contestants in the comments, y’all!) That said, they did all sign up for this crazy show and knew exactly what kind of stuff they were getting themselves into. It’s not technically good TV by any means, but it is tons of fun to watch. So, let’s watch away with some drinks!

Katie Thurston’s Cocktail

Earlier this summer, Katie revealed her own drink of choice to fans via TikTok, and it sure was interesting. Are you ready? Here we go: gin, IPA and grapefruit juice. Simply start with a tall glass filled with ice, then add a shot of gin, top with IPA of choice, and finish with a splash of grapefruit juice.

In case you’re wondering, no, the drink doesn’t appear to have a name. But what better choice of cocktail for the finale episode of Miss Katie’s season?

Prosecco

A little bubbly has long paired well with any Bachelor show. I mean, they’re basically drinking it all the time on there! But I’m poor and admittedly can’t taste the difference between fine (“real”) champagne and the cheaper stuff from my grocery store, so I’m going to pick prosecco here.

Want to class it up a bit? Try adding a skinny orange peel twist or a raspberry as garnish. Toss in a sugar cube too if you like it sweet and enjoy a fun little fizz effect.

Dark & Stormy Cocktail

Judging from the previews of the finale, and what we’ve seen in recent episodes, things certainly seem like they’re going to be a bit turbulent in the finale! Will anyone else storm off the set like Greg did? Make yourself a dark and stormy cocktail and kick back to find out.

Unfamiliar? The cocktail is dark spiced rum topped with ginger beer and garnished with a lime. It’s delicious, folks, and if you’ve never had one before this one’s bound to deliver some flavorful surprises.

Final Rose IPA

The is a website centered around beer and movie pairings, so of course I’m going to include a beer pairing here! I had this beer when I visited Seattle sometime back, and I hear it’s still around. Naturally, the name alone seems like the perfect choice for this show. This hazy IPA comes from MIRAGE, a small brewery that packs big flavor. In this case, that big flavor comes from three different kinds of hops and evokes what the brewers say is “wildflowers, citrus, strawberries, and celebrity jeweler Neil Lane.” If you can find this one, I definitely recommend.

These are just some suggestions, but honestly, any drink is going to be a good choice for the wrap-up of this crazy season. You could even go non-alcoholic and still get a punch with some strong ginger beer or a nice fizzy apple cider.

All I’m saying is, strap in.
